Spell Damage Simulator
Spell damage on UO Sagas is a chain of multipliers on a dice roll — the target's resist roll, your Eval Int against their Magic Resist, Magery's own contribution, and the big one: the ×2 against monsters. This tool runs the same formulas the server uses, live: the diagram redraws with your numbers at every stage, and the histogram rolls 1,000 full casts through the whole chain.
The chain itself is explained stage by stage on the Spell Damage page; the mastery packet on Skill Masteries.
Only these two are unconditional, so only they enter the numbers (the regen perk inside the meditation loop). Conditional perks and procs from your saved Mastery Planner build are listed beside the results instead — with their conditions, never as fake DPS.
Assumes the cast succeeds — fizzling is a separate Magery roll (the circle table on the Magery page has the chances). In PvP, scrolled Eval Int and Magic Resist above 100 are ignored automatically.
Reading the result
- Flip the target type first. Monster → player is the single most instructive move on this page: the ×2 disappears from the scalar stage, the masteries leave the diagram, and the bar halves. That is the PvM/PvP story for mages.
- The resist stage shows an expectation — the chance the target resists and what an average cast keeps. The histogram below rolls it for real, so its left shoulder is the resisted casts.
- Burst DPS is the number while your mana lasts (cast time + the fixed 0.8s recovery). Sustained DPM is the honest long-fight number: it burns your whole pool at the spell's own cast tempo — passive regen already counted — then adds the active meditation break needed to refill it, and averages the damage over the full loop. The line under the diagram shows the loop: how long the pool lasts, how many casts that is, and how long you sit meditating. High circles fall hardest — a Flame Strike chain empties 100 mana in three casts.
- Meditation, Intelligence and your suit drive the loop: regen follows
(Int + Meditation) ÷ 2(1s per mana at GM/GM, 0.75s fully scrolled), armor adds its meditation penalty straight onto the tick, active meditation halves it, and the Meditation mastery's Mana Regeneration perk shaves up to 0.10s more. Dmg / mana is the pool-efficiency number the loop is built on. - The mastery packet is measured from the final spell damage and lands on top of it — but it contains only the unconditional Base Mastery bonus. "On top of the numbers above" lists your build's conditional perks and procs (Magical Wrath, Arcane Insight, Annihilation, Scroll Amplification, the ultimates …) with their per-level values and conditions. They are deliberately not folded into the DPS — how often you sit above half mana or a target below half health depends on the fight, so any average would be invented.
- Meteor Swarm and Chain Lightning are area spells shown here against a single target; Meteor Swarm splits its roll among every target it finds, Chain Lightning only when it arcs to three or more. Meteor Swarm is 7th circle on UO Sagas, not 8th as on other shards.
Caveats
The numbers contain no conditional damage — by design. Mana thresholds, assessed targets, execute windows and proc luck depend on the fight, so instead of inventing an average the simulator lists them separately with their conditions (the panel under the diagram, fed by your Mastery Planner build).
The simulator assumes the cast succeeds (fizzle chance is on the Magery circle table) and the target is a single opponent. The meditation loop assumes you refill the whole pool before casting again and are never interrupted while meditating. Also not in the numbers: Reactive Armor and Magic Reflect absorption on the target, Harm's range falloff, Explosion's 2.8s fuse timing, spell interruption, and the Free Cast chance perk.
