Animal Lore
Animal Lore is the tamer's knowledge skill. Using it on a creature (up to 8 tiles away) opens the shard's detailed creature information window — and it doubles as the support skill for every Veterinary bandage, cure and pet resurrection.
The Lore Window
The lore window shows far more than the classic gump, including:
- Hits, stamina, mana, strength, dexterity, intelligence and resistances
- Combat and magic skills (wrestling, magery, meditation, ...)
- Loyalty and control slots
- Minimum Taming skill required — check any wild animal before you try to tame it
- Pet level and experience for tamed pets — the Beast Mastery progression, including how much XP is missing to the next level
- Preferred foods and pack instincts
Skill Requirements
What you may inspect depends on your skill:
| Animal Lore | Can inspect |
|---|---|
| Below 50.0 | Only tamed creatures |
| 50.0 – 99.9 | Tamed or tameable creatures |
| 100.0+ | Any animal or monster |
Your own pets can always be inspected without a skill check. Loring anything else rolls a skill check (which is also how the skill gains).
Why Train It
- It gates Veterinary: 60.0 Animal Lore is needed to cure poisoned pets, 80.0 to resurrect them, and it adds to every pet heal amount.
- It reveals taming requirements and pet stats — see the tamables list for what's worth taming.
- Animal Lore has its own Skill Mastery, the tamer mastery — perks that boost your pets' damage and control, with the Call For Blood ultimate.
Skill Cap and Training
Animal Lore goes to 120.0 via Animal-type skill scrolls. Training is straightforward: repeatedly lore creatures you do not own (there is only a short delay between uses). Start on tamed or tameable animals in town pens and farms; past 100, lore wild monsters. Gains come naturally alongside taming and pet combat.
